VICTORIAN PEG WOODEN DOLL antique 16" CRADLE (old red paint) + patchwork QUILTVICTORIAN PEG WOODEN DOLL antique 16" CRADLE (old red paint) + patchwork QUILT
Selling all together; an early hooded wood doll cradle, a simple peg wooded doll (no clothes) and a patchwork doll quilt. The cradle is old, the doll may be old and the quilt is just vintage (it has machine stitching as well as handwork). All were purchased at auction, just not the same auction.
The old doll cradle is made of wood nailed together with a band of metal reinforcing the curved hood. It's painted a dark red-brown.
Cradle is 16" long and 5 1/2" wide.
The peg wooden doll fits perfectly. She is roughly made of wood with jointed arms and legs. Her lower arms and legs are whitewashed with red "shoes". Her head is painted a creamy white (yellow caste caused by a shellac type coating) with very simple features. She has blue eyes. Her nose is an applied tiny wood chip with two pink dots painted underneath.
Doll measures 11 1/2" tall.
Sweet quilt is made with a variety of vintage patterned fabric (1940's?). It's backed with cotton muslin.
Quilt measures 19" x 12 1/2".
Peg doll's parts are all intact. Her joints have limited movement. The quilt has no fading, stains or smokey odors. The cradle has rubs and paint loss but is sturdy and sound. The panel at the foot is built with a slant. Please inspect photos.
